Description
Spokane's 333 foot long Post Street Bridge, a concrete arch bridge built in 1917, has been closed to vehicle traffic for repairs to the bridge deck. Pedestrians will continue to use the bridge until construction of a new bridge begins in 2020. The soaring arches across the Spokane River will be retained in the new structure. The rapids of the upper falls on the north side of Canada Island tumbles down to this relatively sedate stretch of the river in the center of the image. Avista, the power company that replaced Washington Water Power, is the building on the right. Blue skies are reflecting green in late July.
