Description
An irrigation and drainage ditch adjacent to the Visitor Center of the Billy Frank Jr Nisqually Refuge is a breeding ground for algae. It looks very much like pea soup. September, 2016. Billy Frank Jr was a member of the Nisqually tribe, a leader in the Washington environmental movement, an advocate for Native American salmon fishing treaty rights, and a longtime chairman of the Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission. The National Refuge was named for him in 2015.
