Description
Mudflats, or tide flats, are flat, low-lying areas of mud and sand deposited in bays and oceans by silt from streams and rivers. When the tide ebbs, the flats are exposed. When the tide returns, the flats are covered by water. This is a mudflat visible from Casino Drive, near Anacortes.
