Description
Rasar State Park nestles on the banks of the Skagit River a few miles east of the small town of Hamilton, Washington, and just south of the North Cascades Highway. The park is in the Western Hemlock Ecoregion on the lower western slopes of the North Cascades, a heavily forested area from sea level to about 2500 feet in altitude. The wet climate with moderate temperatures grows moss on everything that stands still for longer than five minutes. Here, a mossy, rotting log, once a Western Hemlock, is spotlighted by an errant sunbeam that peeked through the forest.
