Near The Dalles, Oregon, at the east end of the Columbia River Gorge, this panorama of the mighty Columbia River spreads before the traveler on the Washington side of the River. Eastern Oregon and Eastern Washington have fewer trees, and more sun, than the lands bordering the Columbia to the west. This view is looking in the direction of the morning sun, towards the east, in mid-February. The small community of Lyle, Washington is beyond the bluff on the left. February, 2016.
