Description
Huerfano Mountain, Spanish for Orphan Mountain, is 30 miles southeast of Bloomfield in the Four Corners region of New Mexico. Huerfano, a horseshoe-shaped mesa when viewed from the air, stands tall on the horizon, alone in the high plains, an orphan separated from other mountains. The mesa looms above the Navajo residential school known as Dzith-Na-O-Dith-Hle.
