Description
A setting sun in late August casts stark shadows in the Snake River Canyon, polishes the smoothly flowing Snake River, and projects the arching Perrine Bridge in fantasy silhouettes. The Snake River rises in the Grand Teton Range of Wyoming, wiggles and curves into Idaho, and makes a broad loop into southern Idaho before turning northwest to eventually join the mighty Columbia. As the Snake passes through Idaho, it picks up agricultural runoff that turns it a vivid olive green. At Twin Falls, the Snake River is crossed by the Perrine Memorial Bridge. The Perrine Bridge is 1500 feet long and 486 feet above the river, high enough for the BASE jumpers that leap from the middle of the bridge. August, 2018.
