Description
State Route 20 climbs east up and over Loup Loup Pass from the Methow Valley, past the scars of wildfires that raged through the pine forests. West of the Methow Valley, the high mountain peaks of the North Cascades are snow-topped in early October. This wildfire was probably lightning caused, though human-caused wildfires are common. The highway served as a firebreak and protected the pines on the right. October, 2019
