Description
A granite and brass monument honors the Utah coal industry and the nearby Castle Gate Plant at Carbon, Utah. The plaque states that the coal fired steam plant produces enough electricity to serve the needs of 300,000 people in southeastern Utah, and burns 1800 tons of coal each day. A spur of the Union Pacific tracks in the canyon below the monument delivers coal to the plant. August, 2018.
