Description
Bonneville Dam, a hydroelectric project of the Bonneville Power Administration on the Columbia River, is 40 miles east of Portland, Oregon, in the Columbia River Gorge. Construction on the Dam was begun in 1933 by the Army Corps of Engineers. On a warm July day, the delicate blue sky is freckled by puffy clouds, while the Dam is viewed through a filter of Washington state wildflowers, pink wild pea vine and white Queen Anne's lace. A peaceful scene that offers respite for travelers.
