Description
Northwestern New Mexico is a stark land of mesas and arroyos. Sagebrush and rabbit brush, juniper and pinon are sprinkled across the landscape. The Angel Peak Badlands, southeast of Bloomfield, is dry and unforgiving for hikers who do not carry water. Striated mesas, layered by sediments on the bottom of an ancient sea, provide bands of color beneath blue skies with puffy white clouds.
