Winthrop Washington Western Town - Wall Art

A population of about 400 in town, and perhaps 2000 in the area year around is increased by visitors, tourists, skiers, and hunters for most of the year. Winthrop was once a gold rush settlement. In 1972, merchants in the town agreed to renovate the buildings with a western theme. Cow town storefronts and wooden sidewalks take the visitor back in time to the Old West. Winthrop is a gateway to the North Cascades from the eastern slopes.
